What is psychological testing?
Psychological, psycho-educational and neuropsychological testing involves a comprehensive assessment of emotional, personality, and brain function using standardized tests and clinical procedures .
The evaluations may involve a variety of tasks depending on your referral or reasoning behind the evaluation.
What to expect during your evaluation.
Comprehensive neuropsychological and psychological assessment typically involves 1 hour of clinical interview and about 4-8 hours of testing, depending on the reason for referral. The evaluation is often scheduled and completed over one to three days, if possible. You will certainly be given breaks, as needed, throughout the evaluations.
During the evaluations; you will be performing various types of test; most will be done at a table and administered via pencil/paper or iPad.
There is no invasive tests including needles, x-rays, or other medical tests. After the clinical interview and testing is complete, Encore Psychology will prepare a report with the results of the assessment and recommendations and will later review these results with you at a follow-up scheduled date
Recommendations
When seen for the evaluation, it is recommended that you bring eyeglasses, hearing aids or other equipment you may need for the tests.
Additionally, we ask you bring an updated and current list of your medication, as you may be asked about your medications.

Toddlers, Children, and Adolescents ranging in age from 2 to 18 years:

Pre-Surgical Evaluations
Bariatric Evaluations are a comprehensive evaluations that includes an interview focusing on weight history, health behaviors, and understanding of post-surgical requirements.
The evaluation consists of self-report and personality measures. The evaluations generally takes around 90 minutes to complete.
Spinal Cord Stimulator pre-surgical evaluations are often utilized in pain management and includes a history of the individual’s pain and prior attempts at pain management.

Adult Psychological/ Neuropsychological Evaluations
Adults aged 16 and up:
To determine cognitive, emotional, or behavioral symptoms following a head injury or other incident such as stroke or seizure.
To provide diagnostic clarity regarding emotional and/or personality difficulties that are causing one distress.
To provide diagnostic clarity for cognitive decline and/or memory loss/forgetfulness.
Diagnosis of learning disability, ADHD disorder, or intellectual disability.
To assess and diagnose the presence of developmental concerns including Autism Spectrum Disorder.
To evaluate an individual's readiness to return to school or work following some critical incident.
